So far today, the showers has been scattered and light to moderate but later on tonight, rain and some pockets of heavy rain will move in. With some instability aloft, there could be a few thunderstorms as well. Many areas could see a good 1-2 inches of rain. Isolated spots around 3 inches. There could be some areas with isolated flooding. But with the recent weeks of dry weather, were not expecting widespread flooding. This will help out since rainfall amounts in many locations are about 1-2 inches below average for the month. Temperatures will rise tonight. Were already seeing signs of the cold air wedge breaking to the southwest of Asheville & in the higher elevations of the Mountains where temperatures are in the 50s. Down in the Valleys and eastward towards the Foothills, the wedge is still in place with temperatures in the 40s. Areas along the Blue Ridge and towards the Western Foothills may see the cold air wedge last a bit longer before temperatures begin to rise.
