So flying home yesterday, a woman was YELLING on her cell phone to someone, so the whole plane got treated to the following conversation: Woman: (VERY angry) - Well, its not like I have a choice! -You call this galivanting around??! I am working my ASS off, just doing what Im told to do! - Well, Thats just how this world is made!!! Rich people run it and the rest of us have to have money so we have to do what they want!!!! (slams phone shut) I felt so sad for her, she was obviously VERY unhappy and bitter. But even worse than that moment of frustration that she was experiencing is the fact that shes going through life doing something she hates, and that she truly feels like obtaining more money is the end goal. I thanked God that 1) I get to change peoples lives through teaching martial arts, yoga and tai chi part-time, 2) in my engineering career I work with a great bunch of people that share the same values I do, and 3) I know that true peace only happens through belief that Jesus Christ died for us and everything that happens between that and death is a temporary irritation. I think I have become cocooned in my family and circle of friends and forgotten what a sad and angry place the world can be without faith. This is my wake-up call to increase my outreach to others and share the message that Faith brings Comfort.
