So foot update for Kaitlyn: She will be getting a new, larger brace that goes up her leg to help force her onto her heel more. We will wear this until the March surgeon appointment with hopes of doing some good. The newest concern is that her heel is not forming correctly because there is no weight being applied. She has exceptantionaly thin heels to begin with and now there is starting to be a difference between her left (toe walking) and her right (that sometimes goes down). For all you women, think about when you were pregnant and how the extra weight made your feet wider because of the added pressure - she is not getting any pressure so the bone is not growing how it should be. The dr has been awesome and is making the new brace into an indoor boot - similar to a booted cast that someone with a broken ankle would wear. This will help with daycare as they wont have to fight to put on shoes, she will just wear it while indoors with a normal shoe on the other foot. Overall we are happy with the next step and glad that the heel deformed issue is being addressed. Her new brace (or boot as we are calling it) will be pretty pink with butterflies. :)
