So grateful and uplifted. What a superb time. Gorgeous Shabbes meal with Janette and David and family and friends. So glad to finally be in the same city again!! Beach yesterday superb with good friends (Thanks Debbie and James). Loved swimming out to an Island and lying on it in the sun. Then went to Sacred Song Festival in the forest, in the Carmel) absolutely magical and uplifting music playing through the night until sun was well up. Mandalas of bright flowers and stones everywhere. (Son and friend happy making dough and cooking pita on the open fire and then after, streaming the international soccer game onto the phone in the tent.) Superb concert this morning with Nurit Ofer combining classical Indian devotional music with Jewish tropes and even some rap-style (Thank you Nurit Ofir- cant wait for the house concert, soon please). Funny, deep, hugely-open hearted. Beautiful open-hearted interactions all around. (Thanks Udi) .Then to top it off, friends for dinner in the Succah and an incredible session on personal resonances of prayer at Kehilat Ramban- Im going back there- but so far basically, on one foot or on tip toes- heard form Rav Benny Lau about the models of praying from a place of nothingness and emptiness, darkness and wanting to invite light as opposed to from a place of light and wanting to be strengthened to confront and transform the darkness. Sounds like the challenge is to get to the place where we can feel ourselves not as victims- and then start praying from that place. Then from Rabba Malka Pueterkovsky about the trope before Kol Nidre where we ask permission to pray with transgressors- basically about confronting the darkness in ourselves and in the community and being with it, in order to transform it…..going back there now for more! Looking forward to beating my willows tomorrow and more time on the beach! Immense immense gratitude...
