So great to be home after our amazing trip to Haiti. The return - TopicsExpress

So great to be home after our amazing trip to Haiti. The return trip was grueling, from the four our delay in Port au Prince to the hilarious lack of signage, help, logic and customer service in Miami Airport, to the 14 degree ice-encrusted car we returned to (Thanks so much to Linda Bernstein and her husband for the ride back to our car!). We spent the entirety of our 90 minute layover in Miami running from place to place, line to line, unhelpful airport worker to unhelpful airport worker. (as far as I could tell, Miami Airports sole success was in making Port au Prince Airport seem not so terrible after all...). If not for the heroic efforts of Rick Rodes and Judy Stewart Rodes we would never have gotten our plane. After running frantically across the airport, sweat-drenched and thinking we were somehow behind everyone else (and contemplating the irony of completing the trip to Haiti and then keeling over with a heart attack in the airport) we were incredibly relieved to get to the gate just as they were closing it, but then really sad to find that Linda was the only one of our friends who had preceded us, especially after all everyone had done to help get us there. So, hoping all our friends from Haiti are home, or safely and comfortably on their way there. Sorry we didnt get to make the last leg of the trip together, thanks for all your help and we cant wait to see you all again soon! #uuhaiti15
