So having this crew here is going to test my "fix-it" skills as far as they can. Five days ago, the little one unscrewed the door handle to the bathroom (losing the set screw in the process). I managed to find a set screw that fit, screw the handle back on and tighten the set set screw as much as I was able. Four days ago, one of the boys accidently slammed the articulated pantry doors open so hard that one of them split on the side. I was able to reassemble the door, glue it together, and even added a 3" wood screw as added security. Mounting the door back up was interesting, but it is now back up and working. Today, the little one decided to hang off the screendoor to the patio. In the process, she managed to break the press fitting that held the door handle to the shaft of the mechanism. Since this completely broke the door (I have neither the press fitting needed or the ability to press fit it back on if I did), I had to try to find an alternative solution. I had another screen door I took off the front when I installed the dog door in the front door. Sadly, that screen door had a different set up. After some "creative modification", I was able to get that latching mechanism on the porch screen door and it appears to be working properly... What next?
