So here I am driving home around 10:30 and I pass two cars off to the shoulder of the Southern State Parkway in East Farmingdale. I really dont think anything of it until I see flames and smoke billowing from a car that crashed into a tree. I swerve from the middle lane onto the shoulder, jump out, call 911 and then attempt to do a rescue. The car was so smashed up, I couldnt get into the front, but was able to get into the back only to discover a childs seat. I start yelling into the car and thankfully the driver was semi-conscious and said there was no baby in the car but she was dying. As I get all but the drivers front door open, state police pull up and thankfully the vehicle was equipped with a fire extinguisher which I grabbed and knocked down the fire before East Farmingdale Volleys arrived on scene to continue the extrication. The poor young lady was screaming that she couldnt feel her feet, but at least was able to wiggle her fingers. As I go to bed this evening, my thoughts and prayers are with her. Tomorrow I will follow up with state police to find out her condition. Hopefully we were all there in time to save all of her limbs...
