So, here I am on YouTube at 4am deciding to listen to oh well, okay by Elliott Smith. I start scrolling down the page looking at all the covers people have done of this song and.. tada! Sarah Allen 5 years ago on our dear old, non renovated, full of life Cedar Center Open Mic Night Stage! I recall being outside, stage left, having a smoke and a conversation with my dear friend Kevin. Im pretty sure I stopped mid convo and said Holy shit! Thats an Elliott Smith song, stood at the door, and watched in awe. This building has a lot of wonderful history, and so many great memories. Open Mic has brought a variety of people together and provided us all with means of self expression and escape. This is all thanks to our lovely host, and fearless leader Michelle Marie Navarrete, for putting up the fight, and making Damn sure that not just music, but art culture of any kind, as a whole, has a safe haven. Thank you to all you beautiful people that have contributed to making this place what it is. Good night everybody.
