So, here is a nativity scene you will never see as it was collected all over the world by man named Jack Wallingford. He passed away in maybe 64-65 here in Durango. He built the stable, manger and star. Each piece is handmade and or painted and come from Germany. Romania, India, Switzerland. He was about 75 when he passed and he left behind a widow named Mary Jane, they had no children. My folks knew them and we had the pleasure of spending a little time with Jack and more with Mary Jane as she aged. She moved to town where my mother and I would visit with her when I was in High School. She passed in the 70s at around the age of 89. She gave the nativity scene to my mother who cherished it until her passing 10 years ago. Because I knew Jack and Mary Jane she gave it to me. It is a wonderful treasure. The plant is another story. Comes from a root stock over 125 years old. Its a combination of a Boston flat leaf fern and a fluffy ruffle Boston fern. Troy Turner who passed in the late 70s mother had this plant and gave my mother a start telling my mother it was her mothers plant before her. Ive managed to keep a start of the plant for 41 years. Right now it is a little set back because I have to move it from the big picture window it sets in front of because I put out Christmas tree there.
