So, here is a not so little story of why I think Alaskans are the some of the most amazing people. I get a call from a neighbor, He is in Anchor Point (three hours away) its Friday afternoon (today). Are you home? No still at work. He tells me, his wife is on a hike in the mountains behind our house at a spot I know well, normal, so far. One of her dogs, 110 pounds of muscle and energy is caught in a leg old trap (closed trapping area, another banter), not a typical call. I am thirty minutes away and can only imagine the stress both the dog and neighbor are going through. I call her, she cant get the trap off as the dog is doing back flips, literally and is doing everything she can to calm the dog down. I call two other neighbors Matias Saari and Christie Haupert and he calls another neighbor, also the to go to plow man (when we cant get out of our driveway, note to others in Bear Valley) Brad Precosky. All three neighbors, Mountain runners be it, are on the scene in minutes to relieve both parties from their stressful predicament. Dog is well, after a vet visit, Neighbor is thankful as am I. It is a nice feeling to have friends that will drop everything and come to the rescue.
