So heres a great documentary on the most important movie director to ever live. From the cheezy to great movies and even starting production companies no one has had more influence or trainees achieve the biggest successes than Roger Corman. Enjoy this documentary and since its Halloween season a friend couldnt have recommended it at a better time. Heres a short list of some of his accomplishments... Trained directors like Martin Scorsese, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, John Sayles, Francis Ford Coppola, James Cameron amongst others. First appearances in film in his movies by Robert Deniro, Jack Nicholson, David Carradine, Sylvester Stallone, Vincent Price, William Shatner, Pam Grier, Sid Haig, Lee Van Cleef and more. Movie company American International built on his films. Helped to popularize the idea of Text and Sub-Text in film that Star Trek would mimic along with many others. Made The Wild Angels with Peter Fonda, and The Trip with Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper which would culminate with Easy Rider and change his direction from cheap horror to the alternative world of film-making.. Started New World Pictures using Writers like Jonathan Demme after the ratings system was started and made much more exploitational movies that could be made using the uber-violence. Making movies like Hollywood Boulevard, Jackson County Jail, The Hot Box, Rock n Roll High School, and The Mean Streets with Harvey Keitel. Culminated in Grand Theft Auto, Death Race 2000, Galaxy of Terror, Battle Beyond the Stars, and Jaws. He had to reinvent himself and start over 3 times in his career thusly making him king of the B-Rate movies and always working with young people that would go on to great things later after learning from the master. Then on to conquer the direct to video market in the 80s after the movie system had dropped carrying such cheesy films in theaters. The death of the Drive-Ins also killed his style of movies making but the direct to video market would be his playground for years and now direct to cable. They all graduated from Roger Corman University and the entertainment world has never been the same. ENJOY !!!! https://youtube/watch?v=eHtcqs34VfM
