So, heres the deal, friends: Ive never been particularly active on Facebook because their policies are downright terrible for artists/small businesses/musicians/anyone without a zillion bucks to spend promoting posts. It drives me utterly crazy that you guys dont see all my posts-- even after liking my page-- and even crazier that Facebook wont allow authors to do book giveaways and the like without paying them. And in the near future, Facebook is going to disallow authors to promote their books without paying for that promotion. So, in the future, I wont be able to say I have a book coming out! Heres where you can buy it! without paying. (Article on this nonsense here: wsj/articles/new-facebook-rules-will-sting-entrepreneurs-1417133694) And guys? No. Just...no. Even if I could afford to do something like that, Im not gonna. I want to reach you, and hang out with you, and communicate with you, but there are too many ways for us to do that without me scraping together pennies to make it happen. So with that in mind, Im more or less declaring this Facebook page a placeholder. Ill check in from time to time just to make sure things are sane in these parts, but this is definitely not the place to reach me!
