So heres the story. I was driving to preach Saturday night and Sunday morning at The Bridge in Santa Rosa, CA. The sermons title-Dying to Live; Living to Die! The theme: You cant decide how you will die-but you Can decide how you will Live! The freeway was stopped up and I decided to take a SHORTCUT. I ended up on a paved farm county road making good time when, on a curve, it suddenly changed to gravel. I began to slide, tried to recover, spun out of control and rolled three times. I was half submerged in a irrigation waterway and got out the window as water was filling the trunk and back seat. After waiting on the roof for police and a tow, a friend helped me get to a car. I drove to Santa Rosa and made it in time to preach! My opening illustration was quite appropriate. I talked about how short life is and how we need to live our lives fully for Jesus! My close encounter made me appreciate my wonderful Lord, my family and friends and my privilege to serve God even more. Ill miss my car. But Im so happy to be Alive!
