So horrible to read this story. Its the unfortunate truth.... if someone says something about your child being improperly restrained, how would you have reacted? Defensive? Hurt? Feeling like you are being judged as a bad parent? Chances are the person just cares about the safety of your innocent child. Do your homework, ask for help, or go to a seat check appointment! Make sure your babies, toddlers and BIG KIDS are properly restrained. Ive said it many times before and Ill say it again DO NO PUT TODDLERS IN BOOSTER SEATS!!! There is absolutely no reason to make that switch until they have outgrown weight/height of their 5pt harness. My (almost 7 year old) 55lb Liam is STILL in a 5 point harness. He doesnt care, its all he knows. And while Im doing my carseat PSA... tis the season! DO NOT STRAP A CHILD IN IN THEIR WINTER COAT! In the event of an accident, jackets/coats compress and a child could be ejected from their carseat. THIN fleece is ok! Warm up the car before heading out and/or strap the kid in and then put their jacket on backwards (Lacey thinks this is awesome!) Yes this takes an extra couple of minutes getting in and out of the car, but you know what? Its worth it! yahoo/parenting/facebook-photo-could-have-saved-kids-life-104175189172.html
