So in case you hadnt heard, were moving. To Oregon. Youre SHOCKED I can tell. All this time planning and house shopping and discussing and back and forth and suddenly were leaving on Tuesday. Youre sick of following the process by now. I know *I* am. But here it is and suddenly it feels... sudden. People have asked if we were having some kind of going away party and no, were not, because I hate that kind of thing. And lets be honest, the bulk of you, even the locals, I see maybe a few times a year. Our relationships are primarily digital. Nothing will really change. Well be back in the fall, well meet up at an art opening, or a show, or a bar or a dinner party and nothing will have changed. Portland, while not New York, has pretty good WiFi. We arent going to disappear. *this* will continue as always. Rant rant whine whine and something with alliteration. So im not going to get all maudlin and teary eyed about our departure. Change is better than good. Its awesome. Its inspiring. Its a kick in the ass. Its forward. Its an absolute creative and personal necessity. And Im proud of us for looking at our lives objectively, and recognizing that even though our life is really good here, it could be better and simpler and freer if we do this one difficult thing, and then doing it. Ive spent the last couple of years taking conscious steps to make myself happier. Because I wasnt for a while. And Its working. This is another one of those steps. So thank you for the well wishes and the support and the notes and the comments and the hugs and the thoughts. But dont miss us. Were not really leaving. Were just connecting from a different locale.
