So in regards to my other repost about how lazy Elana is, a fan so - TopicsExpress

So in regards to my other repost about how lazy Elana is, a fan so kindly brought forth a theory as to why she summons Velstadt. Copied from Reddit, here it is Is Vesltadt the real traitor? I believe so. Let me just start out by saying that I believe that Velstadt has fulfilled his duties as the Royal Aegis for as long as he could, serving Vendrick faithfully – until Nashandra came. I believe that Velstadt, rather than Raime, was the real traitor. We can know how manipulative Nashandra was, seducing the King to fight the giants, and return with their treasure. Maybe she also seduced Velstadt, to help persuade the King, and escort him to his final destination. Adding the events together, I believe it could have happened in this order: Nashandra seduces the King and Velstadt, whichever one first. Raime notices the Queens evil plans, and tries to warn Velstadt, but to no avail. Raime is then DEEMED a traitor and exiled. Nashandra fools Vendrick into believing that he must flee, and commands that Velstadt escorts him to safety, but at the end of the Undead Crypt, Vendrick only finds a No Way Out room – with Velstadt preventing him to leave. That is why Vendrick never took the true throne, on his and Nashandras words. That is why Velstadt is looking the other way when we enter the Room – because he is keeping Vendrick in, rather than keeping trespassers out. That is why his soul is corrupt – because he is Nashandra’s ally. That is why he used hexes, even though we know from the Royal Soldier’s Ring that the king favored simple warriors who staked their every battle on strength alone. Velstadt drops de Royal Soldier’s Ring +2 on New Game Plus. I have two other things that support this theory: the fact that Raime’s shield depicts a crow, related to Velka. To me Velka is not a sinner deity, but more of a sin punisher. This would give us some back up to defend Raime’s side. And second and strongest point that supports this theory is the fact that Elana, the Squalid Queen, summons an avatar of Velstadt. I believe Elana is another fragment of Manus’ soul, but this is material for another post. That said, why would she summon Velstadt to help her? Because he has been her ally for quite a long time now. Let me hear your thoughts! Now, I disagree. A lot of that is unbased speculation but the crow and Velka is a good point. But there is one thing, Raimes sheild depicts a Raven. Velka is a crow. While they are related animals, they are still distinctly different. Plus, if you interact with Vendricks pile of armor it takes you back in time to when hes still sane and Velstadt is not there at all. In fact, the entire room is empty with no lights on. Vendrick couldve left whenever he wanted by the looks of it. There is also the point of corruption. I believe somewhere it refers to Velstadt as the Holy Aegis or Once Holy Aegis. One of the two. Implying he was a man of faith. We both know that dark magic requires one of two things, faith and intelligence. Throughout his time in the undead crypt, it is easily plausible that the dark corrupted him and his weapon. The theory also implies that Elana and Nashandra have some sort of telepathic communication or ways or transferring knowledge and power. You also cant forget the time difference between both of these kingdoms. post your opinions below. ~Royal Aegis
