First, Browns mother, father, and friend, Dorian Johnson who was with him and seen in the video during the theft, ALL have stated this is in fact Michael Brown. In fairness, they do so while suggesting that the assault and theft, which occurs minutes before the shooting has nothing to do with the encounter with Wilson. The store owner never said the boy in the video was Mike Brown, because the STORE OWNER was not at the store, THE STORE OWNER WAS NOT a witness to the theft and his lawyer has not spoken with the store clerk who was assaulted, nor the female cashier who exchanged words with Brown before calling the police on him. The lawyer DOES state that what has been presented to the media is what actually happened in this video; a young man [Brown] cursed the female clerk, stole cigars, then reached behind the counter and stole more cigars, assaulting the clerk who attempted to block his exit, before leaving WITHOUT PAYING.
