So it has been 1 year since Superstorm Sandy came and destroyed New Jersey. A lot has happened in that year. On this date a year ago our members were put to the test, and they passed with flying colors. Members answered the call for help from residents who were stuck in their houses from the quick rising waters. Our members, without hesitation, rescued well over 100 residents in less than 12 hours, starting at 8:00 am. We used jet skis, a 2 1/2 ton truck, row boats, canoes and our feet to accomplish this. We worked hand in hand with local Police to get the job done. This was just the first day of many of demanding tasks we took on. We were on our own for 2 days until we started getting mutual aid companies from all over NJ. Some Departments that came to help us; Westampton Township Emergency Services, Delran Fire Dept., Ferrel Fire Dept, Port Norris Fire Company, Carneys Point Fire Dept, Parkertown Fire Co., RIO GRANDE FIRE COMPANY, Cape May Court House Fire Co., Whiting Fire Company Sta. 33, NJ State Forest Fire Service, Cedarville Fire Dept., Mantua Fire Dept., ROSENHAYN FIRE DEPT., Waretown Fire Co., South Vineland Fire Co., & Brookline Fire Company 35. We also received help from the Ocean County Fire Marshals Office & Ocean County Fire Coordinators. There was so much help that came to us, we cant list everyone, but please know we will never forget what you did for us and we will be there if you ever need us. Thank You to everyone for all your support in the past year. Lets keep moving on!!!
