So it is 3AM... (yes, Bruce I know I am an hour early)... and I have been waiting for this night literally for months! The Draconids meteor shower is at peak, the lunar eclipse will begin in about 20 minutes, the Blood Moon will be full in about an hour. And I cant see any of it. Yup - completely clouded over. I cant even see where the moon is supposed to be. We have maybe 10 cloudy nights like this per YEAR! And of course one of them has to be tonight. The only thing I can think of is that I did something serious to piss off the PTB - they just really arent working with me on this right now. But then I think back to the last Blood Moon back in April. We were driving back home from NC and raced to get beyond the clouds to AR so I could see it. It was a no-go then too so I went to bed. But then I woke up for some reason around 4:00 and there it was... the clouds were flying by and that gorgeous red moon was visible for moments at a time. And I was able to see it and even catch a few photos. I also remember freezing my ass off, my fingers barely able to work the camera cuz they were numb and getting soaked with rain. And I was wearing a Call of Duty Ghosts hoodie that I had bought at Walmart earlier in the evening because I hadnt brought any warmer clothes with me on that trip. A sight to behold Im sure standing out in the middle of the hotel parking lot at 4AM with my camera on a tripod. Anyway... I am still hopeful that perhaps the PTB will take pity on this poor soul once again this time and provide me with at least a glimpse of one of the most beautiful and amazing things Ive seen in my lifetime. My cameras are ready on their tripods... and I have my lucky Call of Duty Ghosts hoodie.
