So.....its a long story. Basically, Ive been more and more dissatisfied with the whole fb experience (are any of you really satisfied with it?) I participate in fb to be connected to my friends and family. I have been frustrated by the lack of personal interaction this leads to. Personal status updates are difficult to find among the ads, the memes, the viral videos, the game accomplishments, the inspirational posters...etc. I have complained about it. Now I want to actually DO something about it. You see, a person is truly only every known by their actions. Not what they say, endorse, Like and Share, or promote. This will be difficult for me, being naturally introverted, but I am going to open up more of my life to you all. I started this new account to escape the profile that I had become as Matthew Alex Markakis. I dont want to be a profile anymore. I dont want someone to click on About, look under religious views, see a label and assume they know ME based on all their personal past experiences and stereotypes. If you care to really know my religious views, ask me about it. Ill be happy to answer. You see, we need to start interacting again. We lost that in this transition to social media. You cant associate exclusively with people who are like minded. We cant be separated by our views and opinions. We have to interact with people that disagree with us. If you cant defend your views.....than maybe theyre not really YOUR views. We have to interact with people of different backgrounds. They have specific wisdom and knowledge that you cant get anywhere else. I strive to operate my life under a command to love one another. I cant do that by ignoring all of you on fb. Instead, Ill open myself up a little and hope I can persuade a few of you to do the same.
