So last last week Thursday after a fun choreography rehearsal and late night practice time I was walking across a street to get to the bus stop. The light started to turn red and almost across I did a fun flying leap, more a fun jump than anything to complete my way across the street. Well I was carrying a heavy backpack and my skateboard was in my right hand. In mid-jump my legs got tangled in my jeans and I ended up on the street splayed out face first. A car zoomed up and a couple guys asked if I was ok. Of course I said I was fine, but after they had left and a more detailed assessment of my body I found myself not being able to move my left arm and a deep gouge in my right hand. Just as I started to prepare to call a car to take me to the hospital, the two guys in the car came back. They insisted that I really did a number on myself and that going to the emergency room wasnt a bad idea. I agreed. I now have a plate and 14 screws in my left shoulder from the incident. My fall left me with four distinct fractures of my humerus and a six hour surgery to repair the injury last Thursday and left me in the hospital on Friday. Im at my residence getting great care from friends and family and will be returning to school and the opera I Due Figaro tomorrow. Healing is happening and Ive had so much support during this time. But some of you dont know what happened and want to know whats going on. Its been hard to write this all. But Im glad I had the strength and wherewithal to get it out.
