So last night, George and I found an abandoned kitten in alley in Hughesville. George got out of the car to get her away from the road and he walks over to the car and says we cant leave her out here like this. Her eyes were matted shut and she had build up in the corner of her eyes. She could not see. We took her home and cleaned out her eyes but we see that her eyes were not in good shape. We do not have the extra funds to care for this kitten in the way she needs or deserves. We started calling around to shelters and SPCA said that had no room and would have to euthanize her...not an option! All other places we left messages, including LAPS and the Meow house. We went to Petco and picked up an eye rinse and some formula since we have no idea when she last fed. They only sold nursing bottles and we could not get her to take to the bottle. After much discussion on what to do, Georges dad, although on a low fixed income, said he would help pay for her to get medical attention. We took her to the Animal Emergency Hospital in Watsontown. They estimated her about being a month old and she weighs 1 pound. She had a fever, an upper respiratory infection and the vet said she will probably not gain sight in one eye and the other isnt looking too promising. He gave us antibiotics and antibiotic eye drops and a syringe to feed her. Her eyes arent doing much better this morning but we can finally report that she is taking to the formula and is enjoying every drop! We call her Miracle!
