So last night I could not sleep because for some reason I thought it was a good idea to drink a cup of coffee before bed. So as I let my mind wander I began to think about the The Force Awakens trailer and so I decided to formulate some theories of my own. I came up with a couple of whoppers so here is the conclusions I came up with: Hypothesis: Who is the black cloaked figure with the Broadsword Light Saber? Criteria: I only used the now official canon of the 6 movies, The Clone Wars cartoon, Star Wars: Rebels. None of the Old Expanded Universe was considered. Result: I believe the black-cloaked figure is DARTH MAUL. Evidence: I reached this conclusion when I was thinking about the Clone Wars cartoon and Darth Mauls final appearance in the canon. In season 5 Ep. 16 there is an epic battle between Darth Sidious, Darth Maul and Mauls brother Savage Opress. At the end of the battle, Darth Sidious convincingly defeats Darth Maul. Darth Mauls last words to his former master was to beg for mercy. Darth Sidious last words to Maul were, Im not going to kill you, I have other uses for you. Darth Sidious then pummels Maul with Force lightning. We never see Darth Maul again. What were Darth Sidiious plans? Was Darth Maul moved to Korriban (Morabban) where he was convalescing until Sidious needed him? Is it possible that when the Emperor died, a comatose Maul was forgotten for 30 to 40 years? Of course I am probably wrong, but it was fun to think about stuff like that at 3am. Any thoughts?
