So last week, after I resigned from my last blogging job, Dearly and I are sitting on the porch, and I said, Well, I sure will miss the extra money, but I feel like Ive bought my soul back. She says, Its okay. We sell banana. I was like, What? She says, I buy banana from my sister in da province for (X amount) and we sell here for (X amount). I did the math and said, Thats a fifty per cent mark-up! She says, I dont know. I said, I do. Its simple math. She says, Okay. We try. So last night we got our first box of 60 kilos of bananas, and I said, How do we sell them? She says, So very hard, oi! I said, Why? She said, You sit on porch all day with banana in front yard with sign. You sit all day on porch. Busta! So hard, oi! I said, I sit on the porch all day reading and writing anyway. So this morning, while Im making coffee, she puts a few bunches of bananas out front with a sign, 25 pesos per kilo, and we sit down to have our coffee. We couldnt finish the first cup, because of all the people stopping to buy bananas (they are being sold below retail, because we got them wholesale). Half of them are already gone, and its not lunch time yet. I looked at her when we could finally sit down to our coffee and said, Why have we not been doing this for the past five years? She says, You never ask. ~Kevin
