So many Americans want so desperately to believe the Matrix of the concept of America weve had installed in our heads since birth. Much like the man in the actual movie, who was eating the steak and knew it was fake, but didnt care, because reality was too hard, so defines our problem with reality. Embracing the reality of America just doesnt feel good, and most Americans would rather stay locked up in that cocoon with that warm, fuzzy feeling--it tells us were just wonderful, and like to help out poor countries like Afghanistan or Iraq (twice!) whove lost their way. And we were so nice to South America, deposing duly elected governments where people realized Socialism worked so much better for the majority of them. Yep, we fixed Chile right up on 9/11/73, and disappeared thousands of Socialists, some never heard from again. Were just such good people, keeping the rich controlling the resources and people of the world. But there is a reason we fail at everything--we cant fix the world, when were so obviously flawed ourselves, and are unwilling to accept the reality of the United States. We all need to read some books, and break free from the rich mans media, and learn what weve actually done, and how we are really viewed by the world. That steak may taste great, but it isnt real--and someday were going to find out.
