So many people often ask me whether I know of Val Lott, the previous owner of the Miss Universe franchise in NZ . Well of course I know of her but I have never met her. However last night she decided to offer some rather pointed and sniping advice on FB to one of our 2014 contestants. Interestingly the imparting of unsolicited and unwanted advice is something that those dowagers who inhabit pageant-lands darkest corners seemingly have an insatiable desire to undertake. I commented on her entry and suggested perhaps that very few would wish to want to read her ramblings. She has now sent me a message which I have to admit I feel is worthy of sharing with a slightly wider audience. (Im tempted to promote it :-) ! ) What is does show though is the gulf between these old-timers and our new, vibrant and incredibly successful approach. I say that after the first day of an unbelievably successful Auckland stiletto camp ... Do enjoy ! Val Lott to me ... Im sorry for your lack of intelligence. I am continually asked to talk on radio and public events about pageants. Dont see or hear anything of you. Then again you have a long way to go to be up to my speed of knowledge and experience. Me to Val Lott ... Dont be sorry Mrs Lott as your opinions are of no concern to me or anyone at Miss Universe for that matter. For us us you are simply consigned to a rather disappointing history in Miss Universes past, and like a dinosaur your power evaporated with your extinction. I am delighted that you can still find people who wish to listen to you, probus and rotary are marvellous institutions. It should be of no surprise that you hear nothing of me in regard to the competition, you see the nettle that you always failed to grasp is that Miss Universe NZ is not about the organiser or anyone else in the management team its about the contestants, they are our ENTIRE focus. Thats probably why we achieved 10 times the success that you ever managed in 10 years within the first year of our tenure. Much as I love a good bit of banter I dont place a korero with you in that category. So as you commenced ... so I will finish, with an apology to you in advance ... for blocking you - as facebook pollution is something I detest, and anyone who resorts to personal insults has no place in my world real or virtual. But I do hope you continue to enjoy your retirement ... the one we all heard so much about back in 2012 !
