So many posts explore justice for black people via comparing what is normal treatment in the same situations faced by blacks and whites. By doing this they are able to guage the enquites and disparties between treatment seeking to guage our fairness of treatment. This way of viewing oneself only allows one conclusion that blacks have less value in this society than whites..this realization can lead to our own negative self imaging. How about we start at the premise that we will never under this rule and set of laws be treated in a fair and equal manner. I suggest we seek and implement our own standards of human value without comparison to the oppressor. The was a time where we had limitedly our own institutions doctors lawyers oil companies small and larger businesses that sustained a segregated but functional black community. Our entrepreneurs have been drained to support the interests of larger corporate interests and so went our businesses. As a young man my doctor was blackk my family lawyer was black we got heating oil from al jones a black oil distributor...the grocer was black the fraternal lodges were black we cut our black neighbors lawn and shoveled his snow for spare money as kids...it wasnt a perfect society there were many inequities but it seems we had some power some infrastructure to fall back on...we talk about the great black communites of the past in this country that were destroyed by white riots...if thse tragedies tell me anything than we no longer have an economic and social structure that sustains us. We need to rethink what we are striving for here and what we are likely to get.
