So many trees in the back yard by the pool.....2nd time Ernie caught a tree toad.....He was chirping away when we noticed him on the pool ladder. He got away and jumped into the pool. Ernie grabbed him. They are so cool. As usually they are found in trees or other high-growing vegetation. They do not normally descend to the ground, except to mate and spawn, though some build foam nests on leaves and rarely leave the trees at all. Many tree frogs can change their color for better camouflage. The grey tree frog which is what this one was can change its color from grayish to greenish to yellowish! So cool to see him change colors! Tree frogs are usually tiny, as their weight has to be carried by the branches and twigs in their habitats. Tree frogs typically have well-developed discs at the finger and toe tips; the fingers and toes themselves, as well as the limbs, tend to be rather small, resulting in a superior grasping ability. We call them suction cups....so dang cute! Happy Friday friends! Mother Nature is awesome!
