So, most of you know I am a gabby kind of guy when I get the microphone at an event, and sometimes when I dont have the microphone too. Well I also have always liked to write. I was reporter for the city paper for awhile, wrote Star Trek fan fiction back in my early days on the internet in the time of alt. newsgroups. November is National Novel Writing Month and there is an organization called NaNoWriMo.org that has challenge every year. You sign up then starting on November first you start writing. You challenge is to write a 50,000 word novel by the end of the month. I signed up for the challenge 3 years ago, but I didnt do anything. This year I decided I was going to not only be signed up for the challenge but take the challenge and aim to complete it. So I dusted off one of the dozen story ideas I have had floating around in my head and started writing. To be honest I hadnt thought about NaNoWriMo until I saw something about it on the 4th of November. So I didnt start writing until 4th. As of 30 minutes ago I have 10,658 words so I think I can overcome the loss of a couple of days. That puts me on a pace of 2,500 a day which should mean I can hit my goal in 20 days. I cant do this alone though. I have to thank my always supportive wife Donna for letting me have the time every evening to write. You are the reason I will succeed this year. So anyway I am posting this as another way to keep myself motivated. I have put out to the universe that I am taking the challenge and now if I dont get it done it is my own fault. But the universe doesnt want anyone to fail, except evil people, so I am sure the universe and my friends will keep me honest and motivated. Who knows, maybe you will have the chance to read something that isnt just befuddled rambling like most of my posts on Facebook. Oh wait, its science fiction, so.... more befuddled ramblings. Hmmmmm Well thanks anyway ;)
