So much has happened in the last couple days, in fact I think it might be a few more than a couple. Im tired, Ive lost track of time. A smart man, Rick, told me on the trail the other day, Time is irrelevant. I dedicate that line to this last adventure. I liked those words so much I told him I was going to get it tattooed on my face (still thinking about it:) The adventure started out with my sister Haley and I helping my friend Amelia run her first LONG run in the deep woods. She was planning to run 21 miles but actually took the wrong bus or whatever fate would have it, ended up running 27 miles. Good for her, it was an awesome day. She took the mistake in stride and turned it into a wonderful adventure. Pain and happiness and lots of laughs later she completed the distance and we all had a blast. We spent the evening celebrating and and telling stories. Lots of stories:) Somehow, I managed to enter a drawing at the post run, awards ceremony and won a new fuzzy coat! Fun. I was going to head back south but instead I went farther north. Juneau wasnt done adventuring. We set up camp on the coast of Superior and settled in for a beautiful calm night. I made us dinner on the fire and was going to read my book Run Gently Out There by John Morelock. Except, out of the night sky and from the distant horizon came this horrendous dark sound. Incredible winds were rumbling toward us sounding like a freight train! The water rose amazingly fast, crashing against the rocks on our beach. Honestly, it was a silly mistake to put my tent so close to the water I barely drug my camp up the cliff before the entire area was under the waves. (Note to self) I would like to say the night was calmer after I found a more suitable campsite but it wasnt. It rained all night, (thank you Mary for the awesome tent it was waterproof and wonderful, love you mom.) Amidst the rain, and the dark.... dark night, emerged some very curious glowing eyes. I tried to ignore them, but its nearly impossible to ignore eyes in the darkness....especially when they keep circling your tent. I got out my big knife and spent the rest of the night working on pictures on my phone to pass time and occasionally getting up to chase the eyes away. Wow, Im so excited for Juneau to grow up and have a clue of what life is all about. Im glad he slept soundly, he needs his beauty rest. The rain stopped this morning and the sun peeked out to say hello. Its going to be another great day.
