So much to say about yesterday..... 4-3 win for Thirds to keep - TopicsExpress

So much to say about yesterday..... 4-3 win for Thirds to keep us top of the table. As the scoreline suggests it was by no means an easy victory. Corkerhill showed that theyll be title contenders at the end of the season. The game started at a very fast pace with both teams looking to make their mark on this game. Both teams were comfortable on the ball and the passing play from both teams was excellent. Corkerhill scored first when. We left a man unmarked in the box who scored with a powerful header. It wasnt long until we equalised. A great ball in from Marc Corlett found Fergus Hadden who added to his already impressive goal tally by challenging the keeper and scoring with a header. Jordan Smith got the second when some great passing play saw Michael Forrest cut the ball back across the box and Jordan finishing comfortably. At half time we agreed we certainly werent at our best but to go in 2-1 up was a positive. Straight from kick off we moved the ball about and the Corkerhill defender mistimed his tackle and brought down Alan Semple. Sempy scored the penalty to make it 3-1. Thirds were the dominant team in the game now and with 20 minutes to go it seemed they would comfortably see out the win. This changed when a lucky deflection got the better of us to make it 3-2. Corkerhill were clearly rejuvinated by this and the balance of the game changed. With 10 minutes to go, the Corkerhill Captain equalised with a nice finished from the left hand side of our box into the far right corner. Corkerhill went mad (as you would). It showed the progress of our club that a team as good as Corkerhill were celebrating equalising against us. What they didnt realise was, Baboucarr was ready to score. With 87 minutes gone, B glided past the Corkerhill right back and put the ball in the top right corner. Needless to say the celebrations were mental. Sarah Ampleford nearly burst the iPad shouting to celebrate. The game finished 4-3. Our MOTM was Derek Foster. Del saved countless chances and stopped a good lot of one-on-ones. What a game he had. We are progressing well and playing a great style of football. It shows the character in our team that we have 6/7 guys battling it out for Top Goalscorer which is great considering weve scored 57 goals in 11 games. Next week we have Glasgow West in the League.
