So my Ron is still in the hospital at USA Childrens and Womens in Mobile. It has been nearly three weeks now...after only being home from Blair E. Batson in Jackson for one week. He is not able to tolerate feeding into his stomach or intestines at this point. He is receiving only IV nutrition. The doctors finally made a diagnosis yesterday. Ron has superior mesenteric artery syndrome (SMAS). This is apparently a complication of the weight loss that he suffered after the surgery in Jackson. It is a very rare disorder, and difficult to treat. I would ask that you please pray with me for miraculous intervention. This has been a tremendous assault on Rons overall health, yet he continues to smile when given the slightest relief. The doctor says that this condition causes excruciating pain...and I have witnessed that first hand over the last two weeks. I will admit, I am tired and frustrated. Ron on the other hand, he just keeps on keeping on. I am so proud of him...I am so humbled by his approach to life. So I join Ron, by declaration even if not by inclination...I am going to keep on keeping on. My children at home have done an amazing job of holding down the fort! So many of you have helped in a multitude of ways, and from the bottom of my heart I say thank you!
