So my number is 10 . . .. 1. I am a second generation - TopicsExpress

So my number is 10 . . .. 1. I am a second generation Californian. I came close to being a third generation but my grandfather, who lived nearly his entire life in San Francisco, was actually born in Oregon. He, btw, lived through BOTH San Francisco earthquakes, the second of which took place of course on Oct. 17, 1989. He passed away on Oct 17, 1996. My daughter was born on Oct 17 a year later. Whenever I see fedoras I think of him and I loved him dearly. 2. I grew to my full height by the beginning of high school. For some reason I dont recall being measured after 8th grade or so and hence believed (falsely) that I was 56. I argued with many women who said that they were 56 and told them they were much shorter than that since I was obviously so much taller. I learned 2 1/2 years ago that I am actually 58. Ooooops. 3. My mom is my superhero! She is one of the nicest people you will ever meet but, now knowing what I have survived in my personal life, she will also kick your a$$ if you try to hurt me! She doesnt know it but she has 4 sidekicks who will join right in with her, I wont name them here in case they ever go after anyone but they are some pretty bad a$$ women themselves! :) 4. I detest scary movies. They scare me. Even worse are the movies about crazy people killing other people. Someone took me years ago to see Silence of the Lambs. I covered my eyes and cried through the whole thing. 5. I cry easily! I cry at sad commercials, sad songs, happy songs, sad pictures, happy pictures, etc. I am very tenderhearted and Im not ashamed to admit it! 6. I was unbelievably painfully shy growing up. The speech impediment I had and the horrible eczema from my extreme allergies probably didnt help matters for me. Thank God for speech therapy and modern medicine!! 7. I rarely watch t.v. as in almost never. It seems like too big of a hassle to remember what things are on what channels. I love to read though. 8. I was diagnosed with stage 2 bilateral breast cancer on July 1, 2011. I had been misdiagnosed for 2 years in a row by a completely incompetent female gyn. When I was finally diagnosed the cancer had consumed an enormous portion of my body and my surgeon could not believe I was still able to stand up let alone actually function. The American Cancer Society did a blog post on me as an inspirational survivor. 3 months after my first cancer surgery I was admitted to the hospital after passing a gallstone. They then discovered that I had also lost a third of my blood supply due to internal bleeding. I spent a week in the hospital for gallbladder surgery and trying to discover the source of the bleeding. After a year of searching it still wasnt found. 9. The gym is my sanity. It keeps me alive and keeps my mind peaceful. I doubt that I would have survived cancer without it. 10. I have fallen in love 4 times in my life. I fell in love with each of my 2 children when they were born. I fell in love again at 18 with my ex but didnt understand then that being in love does not mean that you should overlook everything else. I finally got it right this year :)
