So, my yarn stash is a little bit out of control for the amount of space I have in my room. A lot is leftover from previous projects where there isnt a lot left to do a full project with any one color. This dilemma presented me with an idea: My grandfather passed away in February. While it wasnt what took his life, he suffered from prostate cancer which eventually spread into other parts of his body. Cancer is a cruel, unforgiving disease, and while there is progression of treatment (sometimes with complete success) it is still not completely curable. Whats this got to do with yarn? I am thinking I would like to make small amigurumi figures (amigurimi are little crochet dolls that are stuffed with polyfil fibers) for a minimum of a $6 donation apiece (you may donate more, but that is the minimum). 85% of any donation will be donated to the American Cancer Society- the remainder is purely for supply and not for profit. Each amigurumi will come wearing either a lavender ribbon to encompass every cancer type, OR, specific color on request. Please let me know if youd be interested! I will be searching amigurumi patterns on Ravelry, Pinterest, and Craftsy. Also, I absolutely wouldnt mind having help, or if anyone else would like to do the same to put their yarn scraps to use :)
