So, next weekend well play a dozen or so tracks from 70s/ 80s acts, so get your suggestions in. It wont suit everyone - there are some who think rocknroll should only come from the 50s or 60s, Had this message come through from one Michelle Billson towards the end of tonights programme: Me and my many family have listened since Day 1 and are deeply disappointed that we have now gone from the best of the 50s & 60s to any old thing! Sorry Bern but you have lost dedicated listeners due to loosing (sic) your roots. x . Now - we have ALWAYS supported todays acts and have ALWAYS played artists from our patch, so Im not sure where this has come from, but whilst its important to look back, you have to look forward otherwise the music will become a museum piece. So I wont change. Some people might think its ok to do a show with 1 Dreamboats collection and just playing tracks from that for 2 hours, but I dont: there werent that many actual hits from rocknroll (a couple of hundred) so in 5 shows youll have played them all. Like I say - next week, 70s and 80s (plus the usual 50s/ 60s gems) for those who wrere turned on to the music by the 70s revival. Bxx
