So now might be a good time for Canadians to ask the following question: should we reduce, or nearly abolish, Health Canada’s drug regulatory functions? Could we be safer by trusting in the decisions of larger, better-funded, foreign drug regulators instead of little lame Health Canada? DMS: Reducing the power of the current monopoly is good. But opening more regulators / or credibility reporters think consumer reports, angies list, amazon, etc. is best. Allowing more access to more medicines is really what we need. There are too few players such that powerful lobbies can manipulate the monopoly. When has anyone, other than the elite, benefited from removing influence and controls from themselves and countrymen and giving it to a foreign power? Sure this could have good results, the Europeans may only have angels running the show. But if history has taught us anything it is that big business loves big government because it is so easy to take over. thestar/opinion/commentary/2014/09/27/health_canada_is_not_protecting_health_of_canadians.html
