So now that its out there, let me give you some insight into who Barry Swanson was. He was one of a very select few people that I had gone to many times for advice on which scents to use during the pre-rut to advice on personal matters. He was 100% genuine and would not just tell you what you wanted to hear. He would often say how he admired me and respected me because of my profession but what I dont think he realized was that the respect I had for him was far more than he had for me. He was a true friend who cared about those in his life. Every Thanksgiving Day, like clock work I could count on Barry stopping at the PD with a bag full of scents for deer season and wed trade stories. He was a true outdoorsman and conservationist. He was notorious for sending me one of his ball busting texts only to get one back from me. Hed then respond you always one-up me. The times wed hunt together or just be hanging out and hed get texts from Ted (Nugent) showing what he just shot. Although he was friends with influential celebrities, he was a humble guy. Hed always start stories by saying not name dropping but this one time.... Its not often in life you come across a person like Barry and to have him taken away just isnt fair to all that knew and loved him. Those close to him can understand why he felt the way he did but I just wish there was some way to go back in time and see this coming and stop it. I spoke to him a few days ago and he was calling to check on me. Thats the kind of guy he was, he worried about friends more than himself. Rest in peace Barry....your troubles are over.
