So now we have two videos of the slow movement of Rachmaninovs Sonata for cello and piano by Rachmaninov, with Yuja Wang on the piano, but two different cellists .... This first video was already there for more than four years ... there Yuja accompanies Lynn Harrell. The interpretation is absolutely outstanding !!! Yuja started playing his solo piano long before entering the cello: it installs an atmosphere of extraordinary calm as Lynn Harrell absolutely not disturb ... it starts to unfold its elegiac song with a calm that nothing extreme seems to disturb. Even crescendos requested by Rachmaninov are observed only very cautiously, the dynamics never exceeds the mezzo-forte ... and most importantly, what is extraordinary is that Yuja simply maintain this tranquil atmosphere magic, without making exaggerated effect without disturbing the tranquility of this nocturnal reverie by the sound effects that are unwelcome here. There is no real dialogue between cello and piano but a kind of communion, complete fusion of the two instruments, like a couple walking by holding the shoulder very tightly ... It is incredibly beautiful ....... !!! Cette première vidéo date déjà dil y plus de quatre ans... Yuja y accompagne Lynn Harrel. Linterprétation est absolument exceptionnelle !!! Yuja commence par jouer son long solo de piano avant lentrée du violoncelle : elle installe une atmosphère dun calme extraordinaire que Lynn Harrel ne vient absolument pas troubler... il se met à dérouler son chant élégiaque avec un calme extrême que rien ne semble pouvoir troubler. Même les crescendos demandés par Rachmaninov ne sont observés que de manière très prudente, la dynamique ne dépasse jamais le ,mezzo-forte ... et, surtout, ce qui est extraordinaire, cest que Yuja se contente de maintenir cette ambiance tranquille et magique, sans faire deffet exagérés, sans troubler la quiétude de cette rêverie nocturne par des effets de sons qui seraient ici malvenus. Il ny a pas de véritable dialogue entre le violoncelle et le piano mais une sorte de communion, de fusion complète des deux instruments, comme un couple qui marche en se tenant par lépaule de manière très serrée...
