So, okay, of course, these are all individuals, and Im certain that LOTS of Republicans think these statements are beyond the pale. The thing I dont understand is why Republican leadership doesnt make a massive effort to repudiate these ideas, to let the country know that this is not what the Party believes. I mean, in the absence of any clear GOP voice on the topic, these awful comments sort of fill the vacuum, and are consequently the de facto stance of the Republican Party. Why all the silence? Do these statements, in fact, describe the Republican stance on rape? Im starting to wonder.
