So...on Wednesday my class is sitting on the carpet while Im reading a chapter from my favorite childrens book, Charlottes Web. Ive been talking to the children about the descriptive way the author writes, the individual character traits, and the relationship between Charlotte the spider, and Wilbur the pig. All of a sudden one child yells out , SPIDER! I thought they were talking about Charlotte, but No... a wolf spider had crawled out from under a ceiling tile right over my head! (Just in case you dont know, spiders overhead and Afros dont go together... not at all !!!) So I had the children quickly go back to their seats while I put the fake Charlotte out of his or her misery! When they came back to the carpet to finish the chapter, one of my sweeties said, Ms. Gant, I thought you liked spiders! My response... Only the fictional kind! Hahaha!
