So, one of the major reasons we age is a programming off by one error ;-) Each time one of your somatic cells divides, the chromosomes get duplicated except for a little bit at the end in the telomere cap because of a stupid mechanical glitch ... yet another example of unintelligent design. When the telomeres get eroded too much after 40-60 cell divisions, the cell loses the ability to replicate and it just sits there descending into senescence. Weve really got to fix that!
