So our pool filter evidently froze during the frigid winter that we had. It just wasnt filtering like it should. We gave up and bought a new filter and have installed it. The only issue is that it the pool was so dirty it was overloading the filter. There is a new product that is the same stuff they use for oil spills that you can buy for a pool. In 48 hours it will eat all of the algae and other organic contaminants and deposit the remains on the bottom of the pool to be vaccuumed up. It really does work, we have used it before. You can see the pool before and after application. It is going to town on the pool water and it is safe and non-toxic. The marvels of cross use technology abound everywhere.
