So....our water bill has gradually crept up month-by-month since the city resurfaced our street last year (and installed new water meter at the same time). Recently the meter-reader told me I had a leak somewhere and needed to dig up my water line to the house from the street. YIKES! Yesterday and today I noticed water bubbling out around the manhole cover over the meter at the street, and managed to get a technician out this evening. What we found was a broken fitting probably incorrectly installed last year by the citys contracted crew(s). You can clearly see the missing piece of brass in the fitting which was allowing a stream to run down the street!
