So posted a comment on a thread otherwise unrelated, but the sentiment feels right enough to share more broadly: ...[name redacted], we live in an age of less violence and brutality to one another than _ever_ before, so to believe otherwise, and to act otherwise is to be a puppet of our media hate-merchant overlords. Sure, protect your children and educate them, thats obviously the right thing to do. Keep in mind that the stranger danger that we (I, at least) were brought up with gave way to the evidence that most abuse came about _within_ families. The more we know, the more we can do to deal with what problems exist, and to reduce the occurrence of such problems. There will never be a point where we can stop judging one another. Our task is to stop allowing fear and prejudice to rule our lives, and let rational thinking and proper, critical judgements rule our society.
