So proud of my hubby!!!! BETZ RECEIVES AWARD OF DISTINCTION Branson, Missouri – Thursday, November 6. Charles Betz, Sullivan, was presented with the Missouri Community College Association’s Award of Distinction at a ceremony in Branson tonight. The award, which is one of the highest honors the association bestows, was given in honor of Betz’s significant, long-term contributions to East Central College. Betz has been a supporter of East Central for more than three decades. His relationship with the college began in the early 1970s, when his printing company was hired to produce campus publications. In 1981, he began serving on the college’s foundation board and was later elected to serve on the board of trustees. During his 18 years of service to the board, he provided strong leadership on several important issues, including the passage of a general obligation bond issue, the addition of three new buildings, the renovation of several existing buildings, and the selection of three college presidents. This year marked MCCA’s fiftieth annual convention. Association members celebrated the milestone by hosting several former community college leaders at the convention, including Dr. Norman Myers, founding president of Ozarks Technical Community College; Dr. Don Shook, founding president of East Central College, St. Charles Community College, and St. Charles Community College; and Dr. Jim Kellerman, former MCCA executive director. The Missouri Community College Association is a statewide organization through which Missouri’s community colleges work together to advance common agendas. MCCA provides advocacy, education, information, and networking opportunities in service of the state’s 5,700 community college faculty, staff, administrators, and trustees.
