He completed Recruit Training at Great Lakes IL and Damage Controlman, Class “A” School at Treasure Island Ca. Upon graduation, he reported for duty aboard USS HARLAN COUNTY LST-1196, home ported in Little Creek Va. where he served as an Repair Technician . He also served as Work Center Supervisor on USS CARNEY DDG-64, Leading Petty Officer aboard USS DONALD COOK DDG-75, Leading Chief Petty Officer aboard USS JOHN C. STENNIS and Command Senior Enlisted Leader onboard USS PONCE LPD-15 home ported in Norfolk, VA. Master Chief Ashton served in shore assignments as an Recruiter in Charge Navy Recruiting Station Huntsville Alabama, and as the Senior Enlisted Leader , Center for Naval Engineering Pearl Harbor Hi. Master Chief Ashton is currently serving as the Engineering Leading Chief Petty Officer onboard USS MESA VERDE (LPD-19) home ported in Norfolk, VA. His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (four awards), Enlisted Surface Warfare / Air Warfare Specialist Insignia’s, and Master Training Specialist.
