So recently, there have been counter-terrorism raids in Sydney and Brisbane (I live near Brisbane, very close). Which honestly, of course, is kind of scary, and now this happened. In case you dont want to read the article, a Man went to the police station (at his free-will) to comply with an investigation, and just for questioning and nothing more. Outside the station, two police officers met the man, one extended his arm to shake the mans hand. Then the man stabbed the police officer in the arm, and then stabbed the second police officer in the body and head (more than once). He was then shot and killed. I think this death was justified, of course. I am not making a post about the heightened security in Australia, I will save this for another post once I know more myself. However, about how some people feel this death was not justified, that it is just an act of racism for the police to have defended themselves with deadly force. I think anyone who thinks that is stupid, these police officers were already stabbed when they shot him, I think that is word enough that initially they didnt want to kill the man, until he attempted to take their lives. Anyone who blatantly attempts to stab and kill a police officer, and nearly succeeding should meet this fate if it stops them from actually killing the police officer. I dont understand why someone would think he shouldnt have been shot, it is in no way like other cases were some police seemingly shoot without 100% knowledge of a weapon. But they knew, because they had been stabbed. It is honestly terrifying and sad that shit like this happens, I am not sure if they police are doing fine now, hopefully they are. It makes me annoyed that something like this had to happen, especially because it was just for questioning. And the police greeted him like you would normally, and not hostile. I think it sucks, and it shouldnt happen but lately more and more violence has been happening with terrorism and more threats. That I will discuss in a different post after I have done a little more research. -oshie
