So, remember when I gave my 2 week notice at Central Market the day before leaving on our cruise? Then to my surprise I come back to my manager letting me know that she turned in my paperwork! Pretty much telling me she had terminated me and that I didnt have one more week left of work. Just like that, decided for me that I didnt need to finish out my commitment. Even told me that It wasnt necessary for me to have given her a 2 week notice. Seriously??.........You try to do the right thing, and all for what?!?!.........Well, it doesnt end there. I told her when she called to let me know I didnt have a job anymore, that I would be calling HR. I did, and I told them my side of the story. To my surprise, the HR rep told me that she was certain she could get me my last weeks pay (for the last week I was denied work). This was the last thing I expected. I only called HR so that they would be aware of the kind of people they have in management, and in the hopes no one else would be treated the way I had been. I got a call on Monday from HR letting me know that I would be receiving a weeks pay this Fri. I just hope in some way that this manager finds out that I am getting paid for that last week. (CM peeps, you know who you are, Im counting on you.....spread the word!!.....lol) Who knows, maybe she was talked to about my situation, and hopefully she has learned something from it. In a selfish way, (yes we all can be selfish) Im getting the last laugh!! And, honestly my life never skipped a beat. She may not have given me that last week of work, but it didnt matter. I called my new employer as soon as I found out, and she re-arranged the schedule to fit me in that week, instead of starting the following week. Moral of the story....it pays to do the right thing, no matter how you are treated by others.:)
