So saddened by the news that Joan Rivers has passed…. The first time I met her some 20 years ago it was in London. I was a star struck fan who had queued to see her as she left the theatre… It was raining, and I remember standing there in awe as she came out… All glamour and smiles…and surprisingly fragile and small And you know what, she was gracious and classy all the way to the bone. Even though it was raining, she stopped, she said hello, she exchanged idle chitchat, she referenced the fact that her Lady Diana joke didnt go down quite as well as planned And she even asked if I had enjoyed the show… she genuinely wanted to know if Little ‘ole me had enjoyed the show? I was on cloud 9. Several years later I met her again, and she was equally as lovely…. I may have been riding momentary high on a musical whirlwind but I was still as in awe and star-stuck, and she was still as nice! And then because of a joint friend over the last few years Ive had the pleasure of meeting and actually chatting with her properly. A dream come true for me and I cannot begin to tell you naturally self-deprecatingly funny she was … With the ability to put everybody at ease. Its fair to say that I have been very lucky as a result of music to meet superstar legends and icons, someone nice, some not so…. Miss Rivers was one of the nice ones… A true class act, and funny to the proverbial politically incorrect core. All I can say is, the angels better watch their wings, and your man, JC better be equipped with a serious sense of humor…Joan is bound to make an entrance. All glamour and smiles and armed with a pair of diamond diamante wings and i so hope I hope the first words out of her mouth are beyond naughty and laced with a few F bombs…after all with everything going on in the world right now someone has to wake the main man up – let’s be honest he does appear to be taking a bloody long lunch break! Rip in Peace Joan Rivers an icon and sweetie
