So serious question based on all the things rattling around in my brain since last night. Im trying to suss this out on a purely storytelling angle. I keep hearing that were watching some sort of post-kayfabe era right now, or at least the beginnings of one. For the sake of argument, lets say that everything that happened backstage and online last night was a work. Hell, lets add in Foleys F This Company rant to this. Bryan was actually held out of the rumble by HHH or Maddox or Kane or whoever as part of an angle. Tonight we find out the reason. It can be anything from Were playing it safe with your concussion even though you swear you feel fine to Kane tied you up in a room and left you there until they locked the arena. Clearly they have something planned here. Heres where I start wondering. They have this guy who is over beyond belief. No one can ignore this. They know us internet smarks are tuning in every week to see what happens. Even when we rage quit over bullshit like last night, we still come back because our guy might finally get his. This is the carrot. But how long can they dangle the carrot? How long can they keep slow-burning this before the payoff comes? Do they do it and risk losing the fans watching just for Bryan? Or do they keep dangling the carrot, always just out of reach, because they know well come back? That well put up with the Outlaws as TT champs or with Batista/Lesnar/Beast of the Week running wild? The nature of all this makes my head hurt. Please poke holes in this. Tell me Im wrong or over-thinking this or something. /rant
